Bought Spiritualized: The Complete Works Volume One yesterday. I got it used; I’d of course seen it at Best Buy and such, but (since my last Spiritualized purchase (Lazer Guided Melodies) was a rather large disappointment when compared to my first experience with the band (Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space (a great album if ever there was one))) hadn’t wanted to buy it new. I was afraid I’d be disappointed, afraid it wouldn’t measure up. So I got the two-CD set used for $11. And it’s excellent. A few of the tracks are mediocre – the “accapella” version of 100 Bars is extremely indulgent and dull, and some of the other disc-two tracks are fairly boring. But the majority of the music is wonderfully vibrant, particularly disc-one, which inconceivably has three mixes of a single song without being repetitive.

I’m in a bit of a quandary concerning relish. The spiced odor it emits is at once alluring and repulsive; I’m never quite sure how to react around it. This occurred to me today as two gallons of it plummeted onto my upturned face.

Tomorrow: I at long last respond to the question: “What do you think of Wednesday?”
